Description
The animals of Brown Bear Wood gather to celebrate a grand old oak, turning a birthday party into a richly illustrated woodland occasion. Rachel Piercey’s verse and Freya Hartas’s pictures invite children to enjoy the festivities while noticing the small creatures and details within each scene. A warm meeting of poetry, nature and discovery, with plenty to explore together beyond the main celebration and its much-loved tree.
Age suitability and learning: Preschool (3-5), Primary (6-8). The variety of language gives the selected age groups material to enjoy aloud and explore through discussion. Reading supports vocabulary, attention to rhythm and expressive speech; interpreting images and ideas encourages personal responses, comparison and an appreciation of how words create atmosphere.
Available at QT Toys in Battersea.
