Description
T.S. Eliot introduces a collection of remarkable cats, each with a memorable personality and a wonderfully particular way of behaving. From magical and mysterious felines to troublesome characters, the poems turn observation into lively invention. Reading aloud brings out their rhythm and comic energy, giving families and independent readers an affectionate, expressive collection to revisit, with plenty to discuss about language, character and the peculiar charm of cats.
Age suitability and learning: Primary (6-8), Older children (9-12), Teens & adults (13+). The variety of language gives the selected age groups material to enjoy aloud and explore through discussion. Reading supports vocabulary, attention to rhythm and expressive speech; interpreting images and ideas encourages personal responses, comparison and an appreciation of how words create atmosphere.
