Description
Prince Siegfried meets Odette, a young woman under a spell that transforms her into a swan. Their story of magic, love and deception unfolds alongside extracts from Tchaikovsky’s music in this illustrated Story Orchestra retelling. The combination brings a famous ballet within reach of younger listeners, giving families an atmospheric shared read and opportunities to hear how music can express tenderness, danger and the changing emotions of a story.
Age suitability and learning: Preschool (3-5), Primary (6-8). The combination of story, illustration and music suits shared reading and children beginning to listen more closely to composed music. Following events supports comprehension and vocabulary; noticing how the musical passages relate to the scenes encourages attentive listening, imagination and awareness of mood.
