Description
A little owl falls from his nest and needs help finding his mum. A well-meaning squirrel follows his descriptions, but each guess leads to a different animal and another funny misunderstanding. Chris Haughton’s bold pictures and simple story make the search easy to follow, giving young children a reassuring adventure about being lost, accepting help and the comfort of finally recognising the person they were looking for.
Age suitability and learning: Baby & toddler (0-2), Preschool (3-5). The illustrated story suits shared reading with younger children and more independent exploration as reading grows. Following events encourages prediction, sequencing and vocabulary; discussing the characters gives children practice recognising feelings and considering other perspectives.
